I know what it’s like to start from nothing and work hard to be successful. After graduating from college in Nigeria, I came back home to America with $123 in my pocket. I worked dead-end jobs for months, just trying to survive. I know first-hand what it’s like to face homelessness.

Today we have a government that is doing the exact opposite. They passed a $787 billion dollar stimulus package that didn’t work. Unemployment has skyrocketed and the 3rd District is one of the hardest hit.
I will work to support small businesses by:
1) Cutting taxes on small businesses
2) Working to eliminate excessive and unnecessary regulations
3) Reducing capital gains on small businesses so that money can be invested in growing their business and achieving the American dream.
4) Advancing small business healthcare plans that pool together businesses for lower rates on health insurance.

I met the love of my life, Consuela Owens when I attended FloridaA&MUniversity. In 2004, we married. We have 2 beautiful children: Caleb is 5, and we were just blessed with our second child, Cyrus, in January. I believe in a strong family, with marriage as a central cornerstone.

Times are tough and this recession is hurting the American family. We have had to cut our expenses during this recession, and so should our government. Our taxes are too high, jobs are scarce, and our current representatives keep right on spending.

I do not support abortion. Nationwide, four in ten pregnancies are terminated by abortion. According to the Center for Disease Control, Florida ranks number three for the most abortions per year in America. Two out of five babies in the black community are aborted each year. These are devastating statistics.
“I believe in funding and education for abstinence programs.”
Teen pregnancy is a huge problem that we need to address more effectively. A Zogby poll found that 96 percent of parents said they want teenagers to be taught that abstinence is best. I will support funding of abstinence programs, and I will work with parents, state health agencies, proven successful abstinence programs across the district and state to prevent teen pregnancy.
